Sketch Challenge 16: Back in the Saddle

I got my card "mojo" workin' again this week on Wednesday. Tried out my new Stampin' Up Fifth Avenue Floral stamps for "love you" cards and I do believe they are my favorite stamp set - very classic, clean look (shoulda taken a picture.. next time)

Last week I did a green birthday card that was pretty feminine so took a tiny bit of license with this week's sketch, again using my favorite color in a different tone. I used up some Three Birds paper I had laying around and came up with a more generic card that could probably also be used for a "guy" birthday card. I used Stampendous "Two You" birthday stamp (set of 3 on sale at Michael's this morning for a dollar!)and Technique Tuesday "Flea Market Finds" for the swirls.. just simple, nothing fancy.

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

Sketch Challenge 16

Thanks for this great sketch! It's one that a lot of us have probably used in one version or another at some point, but it's great to see it as one of our challenge sketches because it's so versatile!

Mom's Day Cards: A Dog, A Trash Can and a Creative Hubby!

Okay so Rio the wonder dog is famous (or infamous) for his trash surfing so we do have to put the kitchen can in the bathroom and shut the door -- ::sigh:: otherwise I'm cleaning up all kinds of mess in the hall, on the day bed, etc. all the while muttering the obligatory "bad dog" every 2-3 minutes to the already contrite 65 pound black mass of hair huddled on the far end of the couch trying very hard to look invisible.

With that history in mind, I absolutely could not resist sharing this amazing card created by my hubby Steve without, I might add, the aid of the leery Rio dog who could not be lured into the bathroom even with his favorite kibbles to participate in a staged photo op with a messy trash can. Steve found this card somewhere and added his own picture inside = I know I'm prejudiced but I think it's very creative and hilarious...

"I'll Take 'make 2 cards in 3 minutes," Alex...."

So I was cleaning up the mess I made getting ready for the scrapbook yard sale (netted $119 for spending money at CKC!) and came across two prefolded cards and had a bunch of scraps and punches nearby.. A little glue, a few cuts and a quick stamp and... Voila! Two cards in 3 minutes.... yea, yea, they're identical but it doesn't take much......and they are so appreciated :)
